Previously On… October 9th

Prevously On… is a new feature here on Elbow Deep.  We started this yesterday.  Basically, it will be historical events, sporting accomplishments, weird shit and interesting facts that occurred on [insert date here] in the past. 

Today is October 9th. The 282nd day of the year. Smack dab in the heart of football season and playoff baseball, the perfect time to get fat and drunk. You know who else enjoyed cold weather and overindulging on food/drink? The Vikings, that’s who.

Leif Erikson Day is an annual American observance which occurs on October 9. It honors Leif Erikson, the Norse explorer who led the first Europeans known to have set foot in North America.
